pregnancy style…what i’m wearing

When I found out I was pregnant (after the initial celebration) my first thought was what am I going to wear?! Having styled clients through pregnancies and had countless conversations about the lack of chic options in “maternity wear” I was excited to take on this challenge for myself. I really believe in the idea of having a classic, timeless wardrobe and wanted to make the pieces I already had in my closet work for as long as possible. I wanted to stay away from buying maternity clothes that would be quickly discarded after the baby arrived and focus on pieces that I could continue to wear after. You’d be surprised how many options there really are that can work with your new, ever changing body!

Here are some reliable staples that have gotten me through so far.

Knit Sets- always a fan of a coordinating set because it makes an outfit feel pulled together without much guess work, the stretch factor is perfect to accommodate all your new curves.

Knit Dresses- i really enjoyed showing off my bump and celebrating my body during this magical time so form fitting dresses were a frequent go to. the stretch factor also meant they lasted through different points of the pregnancy.

Bike Shorts- my forever favorite, I personally like a style that fits super high over the bump and is either seamless or with a thick waistband. My personal fave are the Uniqlo x Alex Wang collab which are no longer available but below are some equally fab options.

Button Down Shirts- always a staple in my closet, a crisp shirt makes me feel chic, classic and pulled together. i always get these a few sizes up since i like them to look oversized. wear them with bike shorts, leggings, knit pants, jeans or as the perfect bathing suit cover up for beach days.
